What is a BTEC Award in Sport?
This award is equivalent to one GCSE. It is suitable for everyone; it aims to provide every learner with a working knowledge of PE and how the body works during physical activity. Additionally, there are some really interesting aspects that have been introduced including the use of technology in sport, sports injuries, nutrition and sport psychology, as well as opportunities built into the course to develop leadership skills. The course is graded throughout the two years of study, leading to a Level 1 (Pass, Merit or Distinction) or Level 2 (Pass, Merit or Distinction) being awarded. Learners will need to show commitment to the subject, and be well prepared, to successfully complete the award. This will include having the appropriate equipment for practical lessons and the desire to achieve within the theory lessons.
