In September 2012, Kepier opened the Kepier Football Academy (KFA). The first of its kind in the country, where talented young footballers receive specialised coaching alongside a structured timetable of lessons; with the aim of securing a pathway into further education or a career in Professional football either on or off the pitch. Learners that are accepted into the KFA take part in a customized timetable between the hours of 8.30am and 4pm. Players are expected to fully engage in life at Kepier and will study for at least 8 GCSEs as well as attending the Kepier Football Academy and will be given a number of opportunities to develop their pathway when leaving school.

After restructuring their Football Academy recently, Kepier Academy are proud to have secured the services of UEFA Pro Licence coach Paul Jenkins.

In recent years Paul has assisted Steve Agnew as Middlesbrough FC First Team Coach when the club were recently in the Premier League, where he also spent over 22 years as an Academy Coach. Having worked with every age group from U12 through to U23, his experience and knowledge of developing young, aspiring footballers will prove invaluable in developing the learners of Kepier’s Football Academy.

As well as Paul’s experience at Middlesbrough FC, he also held the positions of Assistant Manager and Interim Academy Director at Hartlepool United FC. Paul will be assisted by ex-Sunderland Academy player and England Youth international, Anthony Callaghan, who currently plays semi-professional. Paul said “I am delighted to be at Kepier, and to have the opportunity to work with and develop these talented young footballers.”

Principal Nicky Ashton said “we are extremely excited to embark on a new chapter for our Football Academy. We know that the appointments of Paul Jenkins and Anthony Callaghan can only enhance the programme we deliver, with this leading to better opportunities for our learners when they leave Kepier.”
