Kepier is working with the Police to reduce anti social behaviour in Houghton-le-Spring.
Following reports of young people travelling to Houghton from all areas of the city and neighbouring counties, the decision has been taken to close the astro turf from 7pm on a Friday evening with immediate effect.
We would like to invite your to our Year 9 Options Information Evening, which takes place between 4 and 6pm on Wednesday 11th March.
Subject leaders and senior staff will be available to answer any questions you may have about the subjects which are available, and the options process generally.

Abigail from Year 8 came third in the Winter Series Dressage Competition, held at Leamside Equestrian Centre on Sunday 14th April. Abigail qualified for the competition through her performances during the season. Her achievements are all the more meritorious as her horse, Gunner, is only 4 years old, and was bought and has been trained by Abigail herself. From everyone at Kepier, well done!
Kepier has received a certificate from ‘Young Writers’ for its services to Literacy!!! Luke from Year 8 and Olivia from Year 7 are pictured receiving copies of their published poems from Principal, Mrs Ashton, with Miss Sood. Both learners entered a ‘Young Writers Creative Writing Competition’ earlier in the year.The poems are here for you to read; we are sure you will agree, this is emotive and mature writing from such young people on themes which many of us can relate to.
These learners were ready to spend the morning drafting their work for entry into the world’s oldest schools’ writing competition!!! Judges described entries to the competition in 2018 as ‘‘fantastically imaginative’, ‘hopeful’, ‘quite exceptional’ and ‘passionate’. With this in mind, our learners worked diligently to create a first draft of their entry. Their chosen theme was ‘The Commonwealth connects people across borders – what can we learn from our neighbours?’ Everyone enjoyed the morning despite the hard work!. They created diary entries, poems, speeches and stories all to an exceptionally high standard. Well done to all involved; we’ll keep you updated on how they get on!!!
