**National Eco-Committee England**

13th October 2021Abigail Allen
*Would you like to be a representative of the National Eco-Committee England?**
As schools across the country recruit their Eco-Committees for the coming school year, so are we!
To emphasise how important it is that the Eco-Schools programme is youth led, 25 young people from Years 5 in primary to Years 13 in college are being recruited, to form the first ever National Eco-Committee in England. These determined young people aged 10-18 will support the Eco-Schools Team at Keep Britain Tidy as we try to ensure that all those in education have the opportunity to learn about environmental themes such as climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. Working alongside Eco Schools, awarding body OCR, Speakers for Schools and children’s author and environmental activist Georgina Stevens the National Eco-Committee will help green the whole curriculum and guide other young people on how to begin a career in the environmental sector. We actively encourage young people to apply who enjoy subjects that are not always considered to be ‘environmental’ and young people who may never have had the chance to join a school council or youth group before- all we ask is that you want to make a difference and help protect our planet!

Take a look by following the link below:
https://www.eco-schools.org.uk/eco-projects/national-eco-committee/
If you would like further information, please see Mrs Read, or contact at reads@kepier.com or come along on Tuesday or Thursday in SID fom 2.50pm-3.50pm.

**Kepier learners win the ICE inspire competition**

23rd September 2021Abigail Allen
**Kepier learners win the ICE inspire competition**
A huge well done to Jake, Sophie, Preeti, Lacey, Layla and Summer. They submitted a video they had made to promote Civil Engineering of Energy and how to make it more sustainable in the future. The video had to be 2 minutes and no longer or you forfeit points. They won first prize in July 2021 and received their trophy and certificates in a ceremony by Paula McMahon the Chair of ICE Teesside last week. The feedback on their winning video entry was:

‘Your video definitely answered the question and linked civil engineering with sustainability in a really clever way. You used great examples to make your points and you bounced ideas off other team members in a really dynamic and professional way. Your team were clearly very enthusiastic and delivered a lot of high quality content in a short space of time, answering the question perfectly, linking to real industry topics. Congratulations!’
