**Friday 8th October – Hello Yellow World Mental Health Awareness Day**
This week during coaching sessions and the assemblies, we have been talking about the importance of looking after our mental health, how to ask for help, and the support that is available.
Tomorrow we are asking our Kepier community to turn things yellow to show your support and raise awareness this Friday 8th October for #HelloYellow. We are asking you to use the attached images and turn your profile pictures, cover images, backgrounds and screen savers yellow.
We would love to show our support for this as a school, so we would encourage you if you can to get involved.

**National Poetry Day**
Today at Kepier we are celebrating National Poetry Day. During our Key stage 3 English lessons, learners will be reading, and delving into the favourite poem of their English teacher.

**Northern School of Art – Open Events**
**YEAR 7 MUSIC CONCERT 2021**
Our year 7 learners had the pleasure of a music concert as they started Kepier. Mr Smith (Head of Music) Miss Skoropinski, Mrs Ashton, and alongside our music coaches, they performed a great selection of songs!

Year 11 students have been invited to attend the Open Evening on Thursday 14th October, starting at 5.30pm and finishing at 8pm.
During the evening there will be a talk by Mr Juric, Headteacher, and time for students to visit
Department information stands. Subject teachers and current 6th Form students will be available to offer advice and guidance on particular areas of study. Students will also be able to explore the range of enrichment opportunities that we offer.
**Year 11 Opportunity**
There is the opportunity to become a peer mentor to our new year 7 learners (The Buddy Up Scheme). This is a role designed for learners who would like the opportunity to support our younger learners in school as they transition from primary into secondary.
Who does this suit?
This role is open to any year 11
We are looking for learners with different school experiences, characters, personalities, and interests in school and outside of school.
Would you like to support somebody as they start Kepier
Gain experience and have some responsibility.
What will your role be?
Meet once a week with a year 7 learner.
Support with their questions and queries
Support on some occasions during break/lunch or coaching
Help with homework, organisation, building friendships and relationships.
General support
Be willing to commit

WHO DOESN’T LOVE A SPOOKY STORY?
Sunderland Spooky Stories will be back in the Autumn as part of Sunderland’s Lights Out Festival for Halloween.
We are looking for 500 words of mischief, mishaps and mayhem that will put a spell on our judges, whether it’s something scary around Halloween or a frightening tale of things that go bump in the night. It’s easy to enter, and the rules are simple. See PDF below:

**EXTRACURRICULAR – CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES AUTUMN HALF TERM 1**
