Our Football Academy Learners and staff had their annual ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ to help raise funds for a local charity.
This year they chose the local Food Bank and all funds raised will be used to fill a trolley with as much food as possible, to help this worthwhile cause.
Trials for current Year 6s to join our Elite Football Academy in September 2019 are now finished. Any queries regarding these, please telephone the school on 0191 5128960.
Before half term we had the pleasure of having SAFC Academy staff come in to deliver a guest coaching session to our Year 7 and 8 Kepier Elite Football Academy groups. Paul Jenkins, Lead Academy Coach, said “It was another chance for the players to showcase their talents to academy staff around our region, and to promote further our strong relationships with the Professional Clubs in area”. Many thanks to SAFC for coming along to Kepier for the day!!!
Our Year 8 Elite Football Academy progressed to the 4th round of The English Schools Football Association Playstation Cup last week, defeating St. Aidan’s School from Harrogate. On a bright but cold day at Kepier, with our new school looming in the background, Kepier started on the front foot and after 4 minutes Jack opened the scoring. Any thoughts of an easy victory were soon put to bed however, as St. Aidan’s proved difficult to break down, and pressed hard for an equaliser. However, after 20 minutes Jack added Kepier’s second, with Joe making it 3 0 at half time on 25 minutes. The second half saw St Aidan’s continue to work hard in search of a goal, and when Kepeir did threaten some great defending kept them out. However, in the 53rd minute Charlie added a fourth, and this remained the score at the end of the game. Kepier will play Wright Robinson College from Manchester in the next round. Well done to both teams for a great game of football!
Our Year 10 Elite Football Academy have reached the semi-finals of The English Schools Football Association National Playstation Cup! On Wednesday of this week, they played Wolfreton School and Sixth Form College from East Riding in the quarter finals of the competition. In cold but bright and dry conditions, Kepier opened the scoring after 3 minutes with a well worked goal from Lewis. With Kepier having the bulk of the possession, Wolfreton were having to work hard to defend repeated attacks, but in the 16th minute Nathan added Kepier’s second. Wolfreton continued to work hard, but Max broke through to add a third in the 37th minute, and Kyle added a fourth almost on the stroke of half time, Kepier going into the break with a 4 0 lead. Within 3 minutes of the second half kicking off, Wolfreton’s hard work and persistence paid off, and they brought the score back to 4 1. However the Kepier midfield started to move the ball around well, stretching the Wolfreton team, and as gaps started to appear in their midfield and defence Kyle (52nd minute), an own goal (54th minute), Harry (71st minute) and Harry (75th minute) made the final score 8 1 to Kepier. The Year 10s will now face Thomas Telford School from Shropshire away from home in the semi final. Well done to both Kepier and Wolfreton School for putting on a great game!!!
